Late medieval silver spoon with a facetted stem and an acorn knop. The fig-shaped bowl survives in its entirety. The bowl is slightly scratched on the back and indentations to one side of the bowl suggest the owner was right-handed. There is a possible maker's mark on the bowl, but too indistinct to be certain.
The spoon probably dates to the 15th century.
Dimensions: length (maximum) 153 mm, width of bowl 48 mm. Weight: 19.1 g.
Notes:
In terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
